Millwall 4 Huddersfield 0 Championship 27-10-12

It's been awhile since I have been able to scribe a post when we beat the opposition soundly and play solid enough to keep a clean sheet. Huddersfield who are much fancied by some pundits played reasonably till the second Millwall goal was scored but after that for the rest of the game they didn't really threaten and ended up scurrying home with their tails between their legs.

After losing a three goal lead to Birmingham Tuesday night I am not sure if we knew what to expect for this Huddersfield game. but in we go.

Crystal Palace 2 Millwall 2 Championship Game 11 20/10/12

We took 2600 -should have been 5000- but the police wouldn't let us.

Palace player Moxey got sent off and later got Twitter abuse from his own fans

Due to restricted ticket sales for Millwall I missed out on this one. I found a link on the internet. What a link it was, never seen so many adverts and pop ups. Plenty of buffering but that could have been my pc. Good to get the point but all three went begging.,we were unlucky but lucky but we should have beaten ten men. Chris Taylor played his first full debut and had a good game, shame he didn't score.
Played 11....Won 3....Draw 3....Lost 5....Goals For 16... Goals Against 21... Goal Diff -5... Points 12

Four without defeat, lets keep this going.

Marvin Sordell And His Millwall Supporters Twitter Dig

6-10-12 Millwall 2 Bolton 1

Struth, this got some coverage-it must be Millwall

A good atmosphere at the Den as the Lions beat last seasons premiership side Bolton. With Chris Eagles getting plenty of stick for behaving like a wally, Marvin Sordell the Bolton benchwarmer  must have felt left out so he posted something like this on Twitter, I was racially abused and so were my bench warming team mates.

I was in the stand above the benches and heard nothing of that nature.
With Lionheart Danny Shittu having a blinding game and with the Shittu chant ringing around the ground I couldn't here much else apart from as I said Bolton's Chris Eagles being made welcome.

Two facts come to mind with Sordell's twitter rant:
1) The police were nearby, heard it and done nothing.
2) My team mates were also abused.

With the police nearby and allegedly hearing it but doing nothing surely the police are never going to admit this and will of course say that they heard nothing. So if they heard nothing and they were nearby it couldn't have happened.

Where are his team mates? have they backed him? did they really hear it?

Once again lazy journalism by the whole lot of the media bandwagon, reacting to unsubstantiated twitter rants as though it's fact, printing and spouting nonsense and then just fading away without gathering any actual facts but leaving a nasty stain behind them. I thank them all for labelling me and my two sons and grandson a racist, after all we were at that game and we are Millwall supporters so we must be guilty.  That's Twitter, that's the media

No one likes us.....
If Sordell or anybody else feels like they are being discriminated against, they should try being a Millwall supporter. After a while you harden to it and sod em all ....we don't care(ish).

Statement
7/11/12 There has been a development with this involving Millwall FC and a 13 year old boy. There is confusion over Millwall's statement and it looks like the media is using the vagueness of this statement to put this young lad in the frame for being a racist when Millwall FC did not actually mention that. I have read a version of events from a family member and it reads somewhat different from what was reported by the press. The family member version is that Sordell abused the young lad by calling him you fat little c*nt after the boy said 'you look like a fish.

This all stinks to me.

Frustration
13/11/12 This has grown, The Millwall statement is so vague and confusing that it asks more questions than it answers. There has been a banner shown in the Dockers Stand at the Derby County game that accuses Sordell of being a c*nt. This banner is not the thing that I would do myself but I understand why it was done. There are many angry about this sad episode in Millwall's history and if it is not clarified as soon as possible the stain that Millwall's original statement has left will grow huge and on top of that piss off every one of us that follow the Wall.

2nd Statement
16/11/12
After the supporters fierce criticism of Millwall's first statement the club  released a second statement hoping to clear up the confusion,

Just to draw a line under all the publicity surrounding the young lad involved in the Marvin Sordell incident at the Bolton match, representatives of the club, along with the Community Scheme, Millwall for All and myself, met with him and his parents earlier this week.
We agreed as a positive way forward, and with the agreement of his family, that the boy would take part in an educational course. While he has admitted to abusing the Bolton player, and has apologised in writing, he continues to deny that there was any racial element to that abuse.
There is no concrete evidence to support or contradict that claim, a fact that may not have been clear in a previous statement.
I would like to think we can all now put some closure to this incident and with the team performing so well at the moment look forward to the visit of Leeds on Sunday.
Millwall FC will continue to maintain contact with the family and all parties have requested that the individual is given the opportunity to undertake the course without further intrusion or speculation and hope that on completion he can return to watching the team.

I am sorry to say....
Still somewhat confusing. If there is no evidence of racial abuse why does the lad still have to go on a course. I doubt if there is a football supporter in the land who hasn't said or shouted something at a football player. Marvin Sordell has never made a official complaint to anyone and all this nonsense has come from his Twitter post. As for the club management telling us that we can now put some closure to this, they seem to forget that because of this unsubstantiated Twitter rant and the vagueness of their original statement the media and certain people within the media and elsewhere rubbished all of us Millwall supporters and apart from calling us all racist we are all animals as well. The club has made no statement regarding this. We will never let this drop but as for now I am going back to the football...bring on Leeds.

18/11/12  Millwall 1 Leeds 0
It just don't stop....after the Leeds game the Mail Online prints rubbish regarding Leeds player getting racial abuse. The Mail Online had to quickly withdraw this allegation as the supposedly abused player El-Hadji Diouf  spoke to Millwall and said that this did not happen. Not one of my favourite players but fair play to him, bothering to put the record straight.
Where did the Mail Online get this crap from, was it Twitter or did they just make it up, probably a bit of both knowing that shower of sh*t. This is another example of biased, lazy and incorrect news reporting. I would not insult the name of journalism as it doesn't even come close, they are scum of the highest order with a crooked agenda.

MSC letter to FA
Dear Sir

As you know, Marvin Sordell recently made a very serious allegation of racist abuse against a Millwall supporter on Twitter. This started a chain of events, including an FA and club investigation, a mass of critical comment regarding our club and ALL its supporters in the national media, and a ban for a 13-year old fan.

No evidence to support the allegation of racist abuse was found in the investigation. Clearly an unpleasant altercation took place between the child and Sordell. The FA seems satisfied with Millwall FC’s actions: to ban the child, offer him an educational programme, and for the child to send an apology to Sordell.

It appears, however, that Sordell has not been required to make any apology for abusing a 13-year old child, nor has he received any censure for, at least, choosing to use social media to make an allegation that he didn’t see fit to report to any of the appropriate authorities at the time of the incident. Players have been charged with bringing the game into disrepute for far less and for causing far less damage.

A player has made an unsubstantiated allegation on a social network, as opposed to the appropriate authority, the FA has acted on it and an investigation has been held, which has resulted in a supporter receiving a ban. This sets a very dangerous precedent. I understand the FA aims to protect players, but surely this should not be at the expense of supporters who turn up and pay good money to see them, when the player is far from blameless.

Is it the FA’s intention to censure this player in any way?

Best regards

Millwall FC-Championship 2012-13 "a few tweaks needed"

SIX POINTS IS NOWHERE NEAR ENOUGH

Seven league games gone, only two wins and it looks like same old moans from last season mixed in with this seasons moans and groans at Liam Trotter and calls for KJ's head. I understand the disappointment of already losing three games at home when the old "Wall'  would not have lost three home games a season, I understand the moans at KJ's tactics which is the way we play out of defence to the midfield and from there it goes sidewards. On paper this team can do twice as much better as they are doing now and this can be achieved by a few tweaks.

1) Look for forward options when playing out of defence or midfield.
2) Don't stay off the opposition, close down quicker, don't let them boss the midfield
3) Try a tackle every now and again, I do not recall a Lions tackle throughout the Brighton home game
4) Let's all turn the volume up.................

.
What's happening?

Danny Shittu was rock like, James Henry was on the boil and played some lovely balls, Darius Henderson is climbing the goal scorers chart by scoring another two.
We done all of what I mentioned above and a bit more and the Lions take the three points.

Millwall 2 Crawley 2 after extra time

14/08/2012 Capital One Cup 1st round -- we lose 4-1 on penalties

Shaun Batt's equaliser warms the cockles but Millwall fail in the penalty shoot out by only scoring one.

Josh Wright

Forty Four can sign for some more

Josh's dad who is also his agent tweets that Josh has almost re-signed for Millwall and hopefully it should be done and dusted by the weekend.
This is great news as he is a very good midfield footballer that is well liked by me and everybody else that follow the Wall. Re-signing Josh with this longer contract is the start of next seasons preparations and I am of the belief it is going to be a good un.

1/5/12 He signs on a three year deal, he is ours. If I think back at some of the signings we have made in the past, this is quality. Things are on the up.

Millwall...."proper Wall"

10/4/12

Should I start to relax?

31/3/12 Cardiff 0 Millwall 0
07/4/12 Millwall 2 Hull 0
10/4/22 Portsmouth 0 Millwall 1
47 points
A draw and two wins takes us eight points clear of the drop and the Millwall team looked to me to be only a few steps away from being a top-notch side. They have the quality and the desire to play for the shirt and I also see many instances of guts, grit and battling spirit that can only be described as "Wall" or as we also call it "proper Wall"

Barry Kitchener memorial ...the club, the team, the supporters, memories and the history.
There's no stopping us now

There's still a bit of this season left so I am not counted chickens before they have hatched (although it may seem that by what I wrote above) and I still think we need something else from the remaining four games, the twelve points would be nice but just a few would do.

50 POINTS

14/04/12 Game 43 Millwall 2 Leicester 1 WE ARE MATHEMATICALLY SAFE

Yes, we get something else, three wins on the spin and another three points. A top drawer couple of weeks and the season is saved. I have trawled back through the fixtures and although we were always down in the lower regions of the Championship we have always done enough to keep just ahead of the pack . Keeping ahead of the relegation pack has come about by some blinding away wins at places like Forest and Leicester. The re-discovery of winning at home is happy days and as I said before "there's no stopping us now"

53 POINTS

17/04/12 Game 44 Coventry 0 Millwall 1 -Lowry scores his first goal

The best spell we have had this season and the winning run continues. We may have sent the Sky Blues down to the 1st division

                                                    56 POINTS

21/04/12 Game 45 Ipswich 0 Millwall 3
Five wins on the spin and we take top position for best placed South London Club.  A fantastic end to the season and well done to the team for carrying on trying to win games and not just thinking about their holidays.

                                      57 POINTS
28/4/12 Game 46 Millwall 2 Blackpool 2

I salute KJ and the team for although disappointing us a few times this season they have come good when it mattered and finished the season banging in the goals and winning games in style.
That's 17 points clear of the drop, not to sure why I was worried, we survived in style and finished in 16th spot, which was above Palace.

602 games for Millwall, I am just gutted that I didn't see all of them.

I am very sad to hear of the passing of Millwall legend Barry Kitchener. I can remember watching Millwall with "Kitch" in the team in the 1970's and as a defender he was indestructible as he stopped the opposing teams attackers in their tracks. As a supporter, there was nothing quiet like Kitch to warm you up on a freezing cold night in January with a raw gutsy solid display that had the opposition wimpering home with their tails between their legs. RIP big fella

Burnley 1 Millwall 3 Championship game 33

25/2/12
Three well taken goals win this match and we continue to play well away. A brilliant performance by the Lions makes my weekend bliss, even the wife looks double yummy.

From the start Millwall press and soon Hamer Bouzza hits the crossbar and shortly after Andy Keogh fires us into the lead. With us still pressing Josh Wright scores from a 30 yard volley that has me and every body else drooling all weekend, what a cracker, goal of the season and all that. Harry Kane seals it with a super finish of his own. It's back to them good old "happy days"

Millwall v Bolton Wanderers FA Cup 5th round 18/2/2012

From a kid I have always enjoyed the FA Cup competition so it's a good job I follow a team that from time to time does all right in it. This may be surprising for some that I think this, surely I must be a supporter of some trophy encrusted team from the Premiership and not support a "little" side from South London.
I suppose my thoughts about this is, you don't have to win it to be successful in it and from time to time the Lions produce a gem of a game or a good run that makes us puff out our chests and feel so proud to be following Millwall FC.

Bring on Bolton

18/2/12 The game

Millwall 0 Bolton 2....my nine year old grandson blames KJ for playing with just one up front.
We had loads of possession but more or less nothing in front of goal, so I tend to agree with him. A cheer went up when Steve Mildenhall replaced David Forde in goal and in my opinion "I saw no improvement".
Skipper and centre half Robbo shows the way

Oh well, back to the league.

Kenny Jackett., there's still time to do it

12-02-12
Will Kenny see the season out?, I have no doubt that he will. There's one thing you can say about KJ is that he cannot be found guilty of not trying. He uses the limited resources that he has in many  ways and is not afraid to give it ago with different types of play and different combinations of players. The plan does not always work but he is not so blind stupid that he does not recognise when maybe that wasn't such a good idea. Being in such a pond with big fish (money wise), you have to have guile, be slippery and ruthless and most of all use all your resources to their maximum effect. This I believe is something that he does as a matter of course and from time to time his resources or his plan will let him down so he will have a tweak with the team, change tactics and a excellent result against a top side is achieved. We just need a few more of these 'excellent results" or any old result will do so it takes us clear of the drop. The majority of one of his resources, which is we, the Millwall crowd must think more or less the same as me because I have not heard one verbal criticism of him inside the Den on matchdays. In fact it's the opposite.

Millwall 1 Southampton 1 28/1/12 FA Cup 4th round

Henderson scores again

Plenty of forward play by the Lions, but a lot of missed opportunities.

7/2/12  The replay.....Southampton 2 Millwall 3  another freezing cold night

Am I enjoying this win? you bet I am. Goals from Liam Trotter, Danny N'Guessan, and Liam Feeney. This was one of the best all round displays by Millwall all season. OK there was one or two individual mistakes but overall an excellent team performance and some good finishing which has been missing from the three Millwall goal scorers this season.

Millwall 0 Birmingham 6 14-1-12

14/1/2012 Game 26 Millwall 0 Birmingham 6 att.10.537 (958)
You are supposed to play this game with eleven men and although the Lions battled right to the end, nine men were just not enough. We roared on the Lions right to the end which seems a weird thing to say after a 6-0 beating, we sung KJ's name and clapped them off the pitch and it seems that the old "Millwall way" might be back.

No one likes us
Birminghams favourite officials. The man in the middle Mr Moss dishes out two very debatable red cards. With just nine men Millwall never give up but tire as the game goes into the last fifteen minutes and they eventually concede six. Well done Mr Moss and his flag waving chums.

Millwall 1 Portsmouth 0 26/12/11

Well done to the team for grinding out this Boxing day win. Some might say that this was a poor game and I would tend to agree. With the best chance in the first half coming from Millwall in the added minute of extra time, things didn't look well.

The first 45.....with the away support looking on, Millwall attempt a raid on the Pompey goal

Millwall 0 Cardiff 0 10-12-11

Championship Game 21
The Cardiff's fans stayed in their seats for this one.

Trying to recall this game and and also trying to sum it up, I wrote on my 2011-2012 Championship page within this Blogspot  "a bit of a dour affair with the Millwall defence defending OK, but with clearances, tackles and interceptions going astray the Lions looked tatty ".
We could have won this game against much fancied Cardiff with our two good chances, but lady luck went away.

Down the far end Cardiff fans boycott the seats near the "dodgy bit" at the top of the away stand

Millwall 1 Bristol City 2 20/11/11 Championship

20/11/11 Game 17 Millwall 1 Bristol City 2 att. 10,252 (away 324)
Goal scorers: Millwall Jay Simpson 57mins,    Bristol City Maynard 14, 63  this idiot was celebrating his first goal in front of the Cold Blow Lane Stand by giving it large, the abuse he got was probably heard down the far end of the Old Kent Road.

A bit of a foggy day for this Sky Sunday broadcast and although the Lions started brightly Bristol scored first and went on to win the game. With Bristol scoring on 13 minutes Millwall always seemed to be chasing the game and when eventually on loan Simpson pulled the Lions level Bristol yet again scored and we were once again back to chasing a equaliser. It wasn't to be our day as Millwall lacked the bite to see off this average Championship.side. Sometimes you can watch a game for 90 minutes and it's not registered within your mind of what type of game it actually was, perhaps Bristol are not a average side and perhaps the Lions done well to keep the game so tight, not sure. What I can recall is below average distribution from the Millwall back four. There was a bit of a boo at the final whistle, so I guess that a few of us weren't happy.
ps...from where I was we should have had a penalty

Millwall and Kenny Jackett 2011-2012 ten games gone

4/10/2011 Ten Game round up or how I see it so far.

DWDLDLDLLL = 7 POINTS = NOT VERY GOOD but we and John G Berylson show our support for KJ

There has been a improvement since we lost to Derby County but this improvement has still resulted in two more defeats. On another day we could have nicked points from Watford and Burnley.
With a poll on the popular supporters forum site 'HOF' backing Kenny Jackett by a whopping 96%, I think proves that supporters have a lot of time for this man and we want him to stay.

I think it's time to dig out my old Lucky Blue Socks

I believe that things will turn around. The Millwall crowd will have a big part to play 'home and away'.
I think it's time to hunker down, show our support for KJ, roar on the Lions and let's be up there by Christmas. Making predictions in football can result in a bite on your arse and egg on your face, but I see us in about 10th or 11th spot by Christmas. A bit of a dream perhaps, but I think we have the manager, players and supporters to do it.

Millwall wandering home, maybe wondering where the next three points is coming from.

I suppose the long and short of it all is that our next ten games need to be a whole lot better in terms of results if we are going to get anywhere near my prediction. I will have to wait and see.

I have just trawled through last seasons 2010-2011 season page on this Blog and found this...
From the 5th league game to the 17th league game DDLLDDWLWLLDL we pulled out of that slump, who's to say we cannot do it again.
____________________________________
Start of the next ten Championship games, after the international break

15/10/11 Game 11 Away to Boro and it is a 1-1 D

18/10/11 Game 12 Home to Brighton and it's a 1-1 D

22/10/11 Game 13 Away to Leicester and it is a 3-0 Millwall W

29/11/11 Game 14 Home to Ipswich and it's a 4-1 Millwall W

01/11/11 Game 15 Home to Coventry and it's a 3-0 Millwall W

I am tempted to say, "I knew the team had it in them". That's five of the second batch of ten games undefeated and eleven points in the bank.We move to 15th in the table.
Don't forget there is a full page about this season on this Blogspot.

05/11/11 Game 16 Away to Blackpool and it's a 1-0 Millwall L

Still eleven points from this second batch of ten games as Millwall suffer their first defeat in six.

20/11/11 Game 17 Home to Bristol City and it's a 1-0 Millwall L

26/11/11 Game 18 Away to Crystal Palace and it's a 0-0 D

29/11/11 Game 19 Home to Doncaster Rovers and it's a 3-2 Millwall W

03/12/11 Game 20 Away to Leeds United and it's a 2-0 Millwall L

That's 15 points from the second batch of ten games so pleased that we have improved, but we are still near the bottom of the table. DDWWWLLDWL 15 POINTS=IMPROVEMENT

Third batch of ten games
I may as well keep this going : I am hoping for a bigger tally of points than 15, we shall see:

10/12/11 Game 21 Home to Cardiff and it's a 0-0 D

17/12/11 Game 22 Away to Hull and it's a 2-0 L

26/12/11 Game 23 Home to Portsmouth and it's a 1-0 W

That's only one defeat in three, but only 4 points, so that's good but not so good.

31/12/11 Game 24 Home to Palace and it's a 1-0 L ' watching this game was painful.

3/1/2012 Game 25 Away to Bristol City and it's a 1-0 L getting beat near the end of extra time was also painful, especially after all the chances we had.

Just four points after five games of this 3rd batch of ten games, perhaps the transfer window will bring a surprise. After just one goal in five games we need a striker or two.

FA Cup 3rd round Away to Dagenham and Redbridge and it's a sell out.....
7/1/12 Dagenham 0 Millwall 0 A bit of a slog but it's back to our place.

14/1/12 Game 26 Home to Birmingham City and it's a 6-0 L Bloody Referee's

17/1/12 FA Cup 3rd round replay Millwall 5 Dagenham 0 W and it's Southampton in the next round.

21/1/12 Game 27 away to Barnsley and it's a 3-1 W Henderson scores his 3rd hat trick of the season

28/1/12 FA Cup 4th round home to Southampton and it's 1-1, back to their place

31/1/12 Game 28 Home to Watford and it's a 2-0 L for the Lions. We were clueless

04/2/12 Game 29 Away to West Ham and it's a 2-1 L Claret's win with given goal

07/2/12 FA Cup 4th round replay Southampton 2 Millwall 3 superb display by the Lions. Bolton next.

11/2/12 Game 30 Home to Derby and it's a 0-0 D

That takes us to only eight points for the 3rd batch of ten games, which is a disappointing as we have shown no improvement with this part of the season. DLWLLLWLLD=8 POINTS

The start of the next batch of ten games, let's see if we beat eight points.
14/2/12 Game 31 Brighton 2 Millwall 2 a good display and Millwall earn a D

18/2/12 FA Cup 5th round Millwall 0 Bolton 2 D att.11,320 (1054)
I was looking forward to a rip-roaring display by the Lions but although we seemed to have most of the game our attacking play was somewhat lacking.

21/2/12 Game 32 Millwall 1 Middlesboro 3 att. 9,286 We were poor especially the first half, I don't want to spend time talking about this game apart from it's a L

25/2/12 Game 33 Burnley 1 Millwall 3 and it's a well earn't W 'for such a display it should be worth a extra point

03/03/12 Game 34 Millwall 1 Reading 2 losing at home yet again means another bloody L

06/03/12 Game 35 Peterborough 0 Millwall 3 another three goals away from home secure a W
10/03/12 Game 36 Notts Forest 3 Millwall 1 this time we concede 3 and get a L

17/03/12 Game 37 Millwall 2 Southampton 3 two late penalties sink the Lions L

20/03/12 Game 38 Doncaster 0 Millwall 3, goals from Keogh, Kane and Henderson and a W

24/03/12 Game 39 Millwall 0 Leeds 1 should have guessed it, another home L

31/03/12 Game 40 Cardiff 0 Millwall 0 last game of the forth batch of ten and it's a 0-0 D

4TH BATCH OF 10 games looks like this DLWLWLLWLD

Eleven points earn't from these ten games and it reads so far.........

First batch of ten games 7 points

Second batch of ten games 15 points

Third batch of ten games 8 points

Forth batch of ten games 11 points

A grand total of 41 points and we sit just outside the relegation zone.
Six games to go, it would be nice to wish to finish these last six games with a better points return
than what's gone before.

The last six games

07/4/12 Game 41 Millwall 2 Hull 0, this one's for Kitch as we earn a home W

10/4/12 Game 42 Portsmouth 0 Millwall, 1 according to Robbo this one is for us W

14/4/12 Game 43 Millwall 2 Leicester 1, three wins on the trot and it's another W

A dream come true, Millwall winning three on the bounce,a Saturday night to get sloshed and a massive grin!!

That's us mathematically safe with 50 points-I would like to see us push-on and finish the season strong. Not sure the players could do it as they have worked bloody hard to avoid relegation and are probably thinking about holidays. I don't blame them.

Pushing on.....

17/4/12 Game 44 Coventry o Millwall 1 the fourth win on the spin and it's a W

21/4/12 Game 45 Ipswich 0 Millwall 0, five wins another clean sheet and another W and 56 points

28/4/12 Game 46 Millwall 2 Blackpool2  W A decent game of football to finish off the season.

The thoughts of relegation was long gone as the Lions finish seventeen points above the drop and one point above Palace. Not to sure what all the fuss was about as KJ and the team have shown their metal.

57 POINTS and a well earnt holiday
