HOW DID STEVE MORISON MISS THAT?
All the other games around and above us apart from Wigan went more or less our way and as all points are valuable this one was gratefully received, We started with the same team that took the field against Peterborough and our Ben Thompson had a shot deflected from goal with just a few minutes gone.A couple of minutes later Steve Morison lobbed the Doncaster keeper and we were 1-0 up.With Doncaster pressing and threatening our goal we counter attacked which is one of our trade marks away from home and a four man move which finished with Shane Ferguson hitting in a cross that was dealt with by the defender and we did not increase our lead. On the half hour we should have been awarded a penalty when Lee Gregory who was setting himself up for a finish had his shirt nearly ripped off his back by a Doncaster defender but the ref chose to ignore it but we still managed a corner and Gregory fired a shot on goal which went for another corner.
Millwall "old boy" has something to prove
Doncaster Rovers had not won in the last four games and the early period you could see why but on 37 minutes ex Millwall Richard Chaplow thumped the ball home to equalise for the home side. Don't you just know that would be the case. We were all holding our breath as Chaplow was lurking again just before half-time but this time Jordan Archer made a superb save and we went in at half time all square.
How did Steve Morison miss that? I must say that again, how did Steve Morison miss that? With the 2nd half barely a few minutes old Lee Gregory set up Morison who seemed to have his boot laces tied together completely missed the ball and a open goal. I think its being blamed on a "bobble" It was even Stevens for a while as both sides where ending up in the oppositions box and Shane Ferguson in particular putting in a shift and putting in some decent balls into the box, if only. Jordan Archer was saving everything that ended up his way. From a corner Bryon Webster's firm header was saved and shortly afterwards Lee Gregory was brought down while racing towards the Doncaster goal. With seconds left on the clock Archer was there again to made sure we went home with at least a point. I am sure with the way we have been playing away this season that the side is disappointed that they did not win this game but no ground lost and Wigan at home Tuesday night is something that I can't wait for and hopefully we can follow on from our 3-0 defeat of Peterborough and continue winning at home. We have Blackpool at home Saturday and I am looking for six points for the two games. I know, but as the song goes 'let em all come down to the Den.
