A GOOD RESULT ON THE NIGHT BUT NO SKIP DOWN WEMBLEY WAY
We gave them a game and beat them on the night but the mistakes in the first game cost us. We could not overcome the 0-2 defeat in the home tie but we continue with our good away form. A good result on the night but no Wembley final for us but there is the League One play-off's and at this moment in time we are in with with a shout.
Roared on by a large away support we started with a flourish and a early Steve Morison effort was blocked on the line and he went close again shortly afterwards when he powered a header just past the wrong side side of the bar. Oxford had their first chance on the Lions goal after 20 minutes but it didn't add up too much. I like the way Jed Wallace plays and he always seems to create with his assaults on the Oxford goal and he smacked a long distance shot that was well stopped by the Oxford keeper.
We started the second half with us still believing we could get something from this game and just after ten minutes Lee Gregory set up Steve Morison but he was closed down quickly by the Oxford keeper and nothing come about. Three minutes later we were in front when Aiden O'Brien sent a ball in from the left and Lee Gregory received the ball controlled it how he wanted it and shot it into the net. We still had time to win this game and then Mark Beever's gets sent off for bringing down a Oxford player who was closing in on goal. There was 26 minutes to go and with a reshuffled ten men we carry on going forward roared on by the packed Millwall away. On another night Fred Onyedinma would have buried that chance after being set up by Gregory but on this occasion it wasn't to be and that was that.
